Vladimir Guculak’s work explores randomness as a principle of order, unravelling hidden perspectives and highlighting the epic in the everyday. Vladimir works extensively with collage, photography, embroidery, and printmaking. Most of his works represent natural and cultural contexts and reflect particular physical locations. He is fascinated with picking out certain elements of the landscape and showcasing the natural world’s beauty. Peregrine Species: England is his third book.

publication

This project explores the journey of ‘peregrine’ species – plants brought from abroad – and how they have been forced to adapt to unexpected, often inhospitable, urban settings. It reveals the surprising relationship between these species and their new environments. This collection of photographs reinterprets the classic Edenic vision of nature, instead presenting a modernized, rugged version of natural life surviving amid urban realities.

The project subtly comments on broader themes of migration and displacement. Like human migrants, these plants embody resilience, tenacity, and an ability to adapt to foreign surroundings while reshaping the spaces they occupy. It raises questions about the nature of ‘belonging’ and ‘home’, as these plants settle into environments that were never intended for them, challenging the boundaries between native and non- native, wild and cultivated.
