Subtopia Collective launches

Subtopia Collective is an evolving photography group collaborating on projects about architecture and altered landscape. Based out of Deptford’s @garethgardner_gallery, the group aims to create a series of multifaceted narratives about a place, encouraging a deeper look at its architecture, planning and communities.

Subtopia Collective is currently completing a major project about Croydon featuring the work of:

Ameena Rojee @ameenarojee
Anna Kroeger @annakroegr
Avery Moss-White @averymwphoto
Christopher Hope-Fitch @christopherhopefitch
Chris O’Donovan @chris_odonovan_photography
Danilo Murru @danilomurrufotografia
Declan Driver @decphotos
Gareth Gardner @gardnergareth
Michael Shilling @londonin360

Tim George @tim_george

Highlights of the project will be exhibited during the Open House Festival at the @museumofcroydon from 10 September 2026, as part of its exhibition 'Shaping Croydon: Architecture and Ambition’.

The collective’s name is a reference to the architectural critic Ian Nairn, who electrified debate about architecture and place from the mid-1950s, provoking widespread public and political discourse.
